Brain Mapping

EEG (or electroencephalogram) records brainwave activity. QEEG (Quantitative EEG), popularly called brain mapping, refers to a complete evaluation of brainwave frequency bandwidths which make up the raw EEG. QEEG is recorded the exact same way as EEG, but the data obtained in the recording are used to create maps that are topographic color-coded that reveal in the cerebral cortex, electrical activity.

QEEG is the measurement of electrical activity of the brain. It supplies complex analysis of such brainwave features as dominant, symmetry, phase, coherence, amplitude and power frequency. The truth is subtle disruptions of electrical connectivity and flow in the brain sometimes may be the only or early indications of a problem. The principle use of QEEG is always to analyze patterns of brainwaves and help determine whether a person is a suitable candidate for Neurofeedback, a treatment that normalizes brainwaves. QEEG does not render a diagnosis, but is designed to help the clinician to make a diagnosis. QEEG is not a replacement for EEG; it is an alternate process than that is carried out by the neurologist when she or he performs an EEG evaluation.

Neurotherapy & EEG Brain Mapping

The integrated use of EEG brain wave biofeedback and cutting edge brain stimulation techniques speed up neuro feedback, referred to generally as Neurotherapy. Treatment is dependent upon a brain assessment which enables us to structure an individualized treatment strategy for the client fighting addiction. We use state of the art EEG brain mapping techniques that tell us in what sequence and what neurotherapy tools will be used. Remapping the client after a few weeks gives us a progress report, and that lets us understand if we have to alter our treatment plan as the brain is healing.

We are told many things by the EEG brain mapping. It can let us understand if the brain is experiencing an undetected head injury or concussion. This is important because head injuries frequently go undetected and yet even mild head injuries where the client doesn’t lose consciousness can impair thinking and judgement making the customer substantially susceptible to dependence or relapse. We may also detect and evaluate inherent learning problems which undermine morale and can lead to self-medication.

One of the single greatest reasons for addiction can be unresolved traumatic stress and psychological problems that lead to self-medication. EEG brain mapping provides a powerful means to show the client how emotional stress has made their brain exposed to addiction.

Transcranial Electrical Stimulation (TES) works by normalizing a patient’s neurochemistry. This occurs by gently stimulating associated brain structures and the hypothalamus using specific frequency and waveform. Transcranial electrical stimulation studies reveal pleasure centers in the hypothalamus. In addition, they also show centers for fear, pain, rage and anger. The TES method used in the United States, as developed by a medical researcher, Yakov Katsnelson, M.D. Ph.D, is designed to actively stimulate the hypothalamus to rebalance neuromodulators, neurotransmitters, and neuropeptides that are critical in maintaining normal behavior and mood.

No one has reported any serious side effects, while for some time there has been a high level of outcomes that were positive.  In a double blind placebo-controlled clinical research study it was revealed that TES is a highly effective approach to correct psychiatric disturbances such as depression and anxiety associated with alcohol and drug dependent patients.  A six-month follow-up assessment with a different group of patients also revealed persistent treatment effects that are constant. Other post-TES studies have corroborated this research with treatment effects still evident at 18 months post therapy. There has also been reported a number of strong cases of severe substance abuse recovery and other conditions which have led patients to very different lives, post-treatment.

Nexalin is the transcranial electrical stimulation tool that we use. It is FDA cleared for the treatment of insomnia, depression, and is frequently used to treat certain chronic problems for pain. It truly is obvious that the very foundation of post-withdrawal symptoms are addressed so precisely by Nexalin. As such, Nexalin has become our first line treatment for the recovering addict. When our patients are not over medicated we have seen a success rate of around 85% reduction in the symptoms associated with anxiety, depression, insomnia, and chronic pain. The speed and depth with which we can stabilize and normalize the recover addict with Nexalin is unmatched in the recovery industry. In the near future, we will be adding other biological interventions to make the Nexalin treatment easier and more robust and work with an even wider range of client problems.

We use a proprietary type of EEG-guided light stimulation to reduce excessive brain wave voltage. This technology is very effective with reducing problems caused by learning disabilities, head injuries, emotional trauma, as well as brain toxicity due to substance abuse. This process is known, technically, as EEG-guided brain wave distrainment. We use EEG brain mapping to determine where and how in the brain to use this therapy. As with all our other brain stimulation devices, clients find the treatment to be enjoyable and relaxing.

We are proud to be experts in the use of Neurofield, an electromagnetic brain stimulation device currently undergoing clearance of the FDA. The EEG brain mapping uncovers deficits in the electrical activity of the brain due to addiction. It also reveals other underlying issues and we can use Neurofield to replenish and strengthen the brains stamina and appropriate electrical activity. All activity associated with specific brain wave frequencies voltage levels. Neurofield is a non-invasive, safe way to normalize brain activity. Neurofield uses minute levels to utilize electromagnetic energy. Your wrist watch puts out more energy than the energy utilized by Neurofield. The key to Neurofield’s success is the fact that the brain acts like a radio. Radios are influenced by actively locating the frequencies of interests much like finding a station on a radio channel. When the precise frequency is identified, a brain condition, only the tiniest electrical “nudge” is needed to move the brain back to health. Over 200 of some of the finest clinicians in America are currently using Neurofield in a wide variety of clinical contexts. Clients find the treatment non-intrusive and frequently relaxing.

LORETA z-scored neurofeedback is the cutting edge in neuro feedback treatment. LORETA is a mathematical system that allows us to build a 3-D model of the brains electrical activity. In doing so, LORETA can assess, detect and transform different structures of the brain that cannot be touched by conventional treatment. We can affect deeper brain structures that control learning, emotional regulation, as well as the control of cravings building upon FDA cleared brain mapping technology. LORETA allows us to actually see the craving network or brains addiction in action. Once the client’s brain has been normalized and stabilized by various brain stimulation techniques, LORETA can affect a deep healing of the brain and rehabilitate or transform the client’s ability to learn. In doing so, our client’s leave our program with a brain that supports a life worth remaining sober for.

There are over 2,000 peer-reviewed research papers utilizing LORETA technology, with the research ongoing and worldwide. We are proud to be associated with and be working with the creators and the leading practitioners of this exciting technology.
